Join our Backyard Habitat Workshop series for practical tips, inspiration and free plants to help you create a native habitat garden.

Create a native garden that both you and local wildlife can enjoy.

Drawing on principles of ecology our facilitators will guide you to learn about garden design for habitat, native plant selection and why local wildlife such as small birds need your support. In our final session we'll visit some local habitat projects and provide personal feedback about what could go where in your backyard.

  • Workshop 1: Attracting Birds, Bees and Butterflies (online). Tuesday 7 May, 6-7.30pm with local ecologist Renée Ferster Levy.
  • Workshop 2: Plant selection, design tips and habitat elements (online). Tuesday 14 May, 6-7.30pm with native garden designer and horticulturist Narelle Happ.
  • Workshop 3: Visiting habitat project/s (in person). Sunday 19 May, 9.30am-11.30am, in local backyards, verges and beyond with residents who have planted habitat gardens.

Local residents who attend all three workshops will receive free native plants to help kick-start your home habitat garden. You'll also receive an information pack with resources about local native plants and tips for creating habitat.

Who should attend? This course is focussing on residents in Woollahra local government area.

How to register: Registration in the first session secures your place for the whole workshop series.
