The Studio is suitable for creative development and rehearsal space for dance, drama, arts, training, workshops, classes, meetings and film shoots.

Please note The Studio is not suitable for parties/private functions.

Businesses - will be assessed on the following

  • Annual turnover less than $150,000 per annum - (provide balance sheet, BAS statement, or letter from an Accountant confirming income)
  • Event must be open for members of the public to attend
  • Identification of community / social benefit (provide statement regarding benefit of activity)
  • Attendance fees must be less than commercial rates (provide list of fees and charges)
  • Must have own public liability insurance (provide certificate of currency)
$40 per hour
Not for Profit

 

Registered Charities and Not For Profit Organisations, including Educational and Religious Institutions

  • Must have an Australian Tax Office (ATO) registered not for profit status ( provide certificate)
  • Must have own public liability insurance (provide certificate of currency)
$25 per hour
Cancellation Fees

Less than 28 days of Event $70

Greater than 28 days of Event Full fees

The Drill

The Drill Hall is currently utilised full time by Critical Path. Critical Path is funded by Arts NSW and has made a valuable contribution to the independent dance sector in NSW.

  • 18 x 10 metre (approx) semi sprung dance floor
  • Custom made portable dance mirror
  • Change area and storage facility
  • Common kitchenette facility
  • Common downstairs toilets

Accessibility:

  • Disabled access
  • Accessible toilet on ground floor and level 1
  • Lift up to Studio on level 1

Parking: No parking onsite. Limited street parking is available


History

The Drill Hall had been the site of navy use and administration for much of the twentieth century. In 1979, the site was transferred from the Commonwealth to the State. In 2000, the Drill Hall was the headquarters for sailing events for the Sydney Olympics and Paralympics. Post Olympics, Woollahra Council assumed responsibility for the site and is committed to ensuring that broad community use is applied for the space, based on outcomes of extensive community and stakeholder consultation.
