Road signs and linemarking

Repair of existing Traffic Signs and Linemarking

Requests for the repair or replacement of damaged or faded signposting and linemarking can be made via Customer Service on 9391 7000 or by email to records@woollahra.nsw.gov.au.

Please provide the following details as part of your request:

  1. Type of sign (eg. No Parking, No Stopping, 2HR Parking) or linemarking
  2. Is the sign faded, damaged or missing?
  3. Location of sign

Customer Service will log this request in Council's Customer Request Management System. Subject to the availability of signs, repairs and replacement will be made within two to three weeks of the request.

Request for New or Altered Traffic Signs or Linemarking

Requests for new or altered signposting and linemarking can be made in writing to Council's Traffic & Transport section. All requests are referred to Council's Traffic Engineer for investigation. Time frame for investigation will vary depending on the complexity of the request.

Recommendations for the introduction of new or altered traffic signs or linemarking are then made to the Woollahra Traffic Committee for consideration. The Traffic Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month (except January).

Street Name Signs

Installation and repair of street name signs are carried out by Council. Requests can be made via Customer Service on 9391 7000 or email to records@woollahra.nsw.gov.au.

Please provide the following details as part of your request:

  1. Specify sign type as a street name sign
  2. Is sign faded, damaged or missing?
  3. Location of sign

Please note: signs are made to order, installation time for street name signs is approximately 30 days.

State Roads

The Municipality of Woollahra contains three State Roads that fall under the jurisdiction of the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) - New South Head Road, Oxford Street and Old South Head Road (south of its intersection with New South Head Road).

Requests for installation and maintenance of signs and linemarking on State Roads can be made to the RMS. In some instances, Council and the RMS will work in conjunction to install and maintain signposting and linemarking.

Traffic Signals

The RMS is also responsible for traffic signals. To report signal faults, please immediately contact the RMS on 131 700 (24 hrs).

Speed Limit Signs

The statutory speed limit is 50kp/h on all roads, unless otherwise signposted.

Speed limit signs (including school zones) are under the care and control of the RMS. Request maintenance for speed limit signs. Maintenance requests may also be submitted by phone on 13 22 13 or in writing to:
