We’ve reduced our greenhouse gas emissions over the last few years by installing rooftop solar panels on our buildings, switching street lights to LEDs and purchasing renewable energy. With the help of carbon offsets to offset our remaining emissions, we are now certified as carbon neutral.

We’re also supporting our community to reduce its emissions.

What can you do? There are some very simple actions you can take to reduce your household waste and energy emissions.

  1. Switch to GreenPower through your energy retailer.
  2. Discover if your roof is right for solar panels. Visit SunSPOT, a free, not-for-profit online tool that helps you check the solar potential of your roof space.
  3. Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and create compost instead, simply by placing your food scraps into your green-lid bin instead of your red-lid garbage bin. Find out more.
  4. Compost at home with your own compost bin, even if you live in an apartment. We've partnered with Compost Revolution to get you up to 80 per cent off compost bins and worm farms, including models that suit apartment balconies. For example a compost bin worth $45 is available for $9.95.
  5. Consider switching to an electric vehicle. We are supporting locals to switch to electric vehicles EVs by working with Waverley and Randwick councils to install (EV) chargers in key locations. We now have a growing number of local electric vehicle charging stations installed as part of the program.
  6. Find out what can and can’t be recycled at home with our top six recycling myths busted.
  7. Recycle your e-waste by booking a free e-waste collection from your home.
  8. Drop off your old household batteries for safe recycling at our dedicated battery recycling bins at Paddington Library or Woollahra Library in Double Bay.
  9. Bring your waste that can’t be recycled at home or is unsafe to put in your household bin to our Recycle It Saturday events. Some of the items accepted are batteries, light bulbs, X-ray films, mobile phones, polystyrene, soft plastics, bulky cardboard, e-waste, paints and gas cylinders.
