Woollahra Council has awarded individuals, schools, community organisations and businesses from across the Woollahra Local Government Area more than $236,000 in funding through its Grants Program.

Expanded for 2023/2024, the program supports projects that work towards a connected, liveable, creative and sustainable community, with funding available in the categories of Community and Cultural, Environmental, Placemaking and newly-created Business Sector Support.

Projects aimed at reducing isolation in the community, supporting local schools and community groups to install rooftop solar, reduce single-use plastics and plant habitat gardens, connecting local businesses and delivering inclusive community sport and health initiatives are among the 54 successful recipients, with a total of $236,224 awarded across all categories.

Small grants of up to $3,000 were available to individuals, community groups, community organisations (not-for-profits and charities) and businesses; and large grants of between $3,001 and $7,500 available to businesses, community organisations and community groups. Business Sector Support grants were available for up to $10,000 per organisation.

Community and Cultural grants provide support for projects that contribute to a vibrant and creative community, while Environmental grants aim to support local schools and not-for-profit community organisations to implement sustainability projects.

Placemaking grants provide funding for events and activities that activate and enhance public spaces, and Business Sector Support grants assist organisations with initiatives that support businesses and local economic development.

"I am so pleased that we have been able to provide support for a wide range of projects that will play an important role in the ongoing development of the Woollahra community," Woollahra Mayor Susan Wynne said.

“Congratulations to all funding recipients – I look forward to seeing your projects come to fruition over the next year.”
