Explore our programs by age

We offer a range of specially designed programs for children of all ages at each of our libraries during school term. We also offer a dedicated School Holiday Program.

Bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep within physical distancing requirements.

Book Babies (0-18 months)

Explore a featured book one-to-one with your baby (aged 0 to 18 months). This free program focuses on early literacy and will include stories, rhymes, songs and finger-play.

Bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep within physical distancing requirements.

Rhyme Time for babies and toddlers (0-2 years)

Enjoy rhymes, singing, board books and musical instruments with your child (aged 0-2 years). This free, fun and interactive program encourages parents and carers to become fully involved with their babies and toddlers by associating books and songs with parental time and attention.

Rhyme Time bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep within physical distancing requirements. The booking page will be made available one week in advance.

Story Time for preschoolers (3-5 years)

Explore a theme which incorporates songs, rhymes and a craft activity with your child (aged 3-5 years). This free program helps to promote reading readiness and is a great opportunity for preschool children and their parent or carers to share the joy of literature, language rhythm and rhyme.

Coding with Cubetto (4-6 years)

Learn basic screenless coding and problem solving skills using our friendly looking wooden Robot, called Cubetto.

Coding with Cubetto is currently suspended until further notice. Other in-person events and programs are being gradually introduced and bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep in line with the 2 square metre guideline.

This program is run monthly during school term only.

  • Woollahra Library at Double Bay - last Thursday of the month, 4.00pm (Beehive area)

Cost: Free. This is a drop in session, no bookings required.

Mini Makers Club (for school aged children)

Mini Makers Club is a fun filled program for school-age children held once a month at each Woollahra Libraries service point.

Bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep in line with the 2 square metre guideline.

This program is run monthly during school term only. 

  • Watsons Bay Library - first Wednesday of alternate months 4.00pm**
  • Paddington Library - third Tuesday alternate months 4.00pm**
  • Woollahra Library at Double Bay - third Thursday of the month 4.00pm

**Mini Makers sessions at Watsons Bay Library and Paddington Library alternate monthly, please check the council events page for set dates and bookings.

Each session is designed to provide a fun way to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, and runs for just under an hour. Bookings are required to attend and spaces are limited.

  • Gardening scraps

    Learn how to grow fruit and vegetables from your cooking and food prep off cuts. From carrot tops to pumpkin seeds and all sorts of fruit, check your fridge or fresh kitchen waste and then join us on a how to grow food from scraps session using basic materials you most likely have at home.

    Do you dare join us this Halloween for a scaring of science? Create-along with us your own electrostatic-powered dancing ghosts, a Jack-o’-lantern self-inflating balloon, some erupting pumpkins (or apples), a vomiting ‘head’ and a devilishly dissolving bath bomb.n using basic materials you most likely have at home.
