Paddington Library is set to open each Sunday on a permanent basis following community support for expanded weekend hours.

A 12-month trial of Sunday opening hours which commenced in January 2019 saw a substantial increase in library visitation, with an overwhelming majority of respondents to community consultation expressing a desire for Sunday opening to be maintained.

Sunday opening hours from 10am to 4pm will become standard from 5 January 2020.

Woollahra Council, which manages Paddington Library in conjunction with City of Sydney Council, introduced the trial following a Notice of Motion from Paddington Ward Councillor Harriet Price.

Woollahra Mayor Susan Wynne encouraged residents to take advantage of the expanded hours. “Paddington Library has a fantastic collection of books and digital resources and a fabulous kids’ space for little ones to explore,” the Mayor said “I encourage you to head down on a Sunday, enjoy the new opening hours and take the opportunity to say hi to our wonderful staff - they’d love to see you!”

Paddington Library is located at Paddington Town Hall, 247 Oxford Street.
