New Zealand artist Sam Harrison has created a bronze sculpture depicting a single female figure which represents and celebrates a multitude of women, including a number of significant women in Woollahra, identified through the research component of the Women in Woollahra project.

About the project

Seated Woman II is the artwork element of the Women in Woollahra project launched on International Women's Day in 2007. The project aims to recognise and celebrate the contribution of women, both past and present, in the local community. Women in Woollahra commemorated the following seven women for their achievements through oral history recordings: Belle Miller BEM, Dutchie Backhouse BEM, Alice Doyle AM, Rosemary Foot AO, Pat Thompson, Thistle Harris Stead AM and Florence Broadhurst.
