We are proud to take another big step towards reducing our carbon emissions with the installation of a new solar system on the roof of Woollahra Library at Double Bay.

The new solar system will supply over 80,000 kW hours of renewable electricity to Kiaora Place every year, saving over 73,000 kg of CO2 – that’s equivalent to taking 16 cars off the road or powering 15 houses for a year!

In combination with our renewable energy contract, 50% of the electricity for the library and common areas of Kiaora Place is now from renewable sources.

Mayor of Woollahra Susan Wynne said she was immensely proud of this project which will have a significant impact on the carbon emissions produced through the Council’s operations.

“We’re really proud of this project as the new system more than doubles our existing solar capacity, with a new combined total of 111.8 kW across six Council sites,” the Mayor said.

“We want to practice what we preach and show our residents that switching to renewables is a worthwhile investment.

“Not only will you reduce your carbon emissions and help combat climate change – but you’ll save money on your power bill too,” the Mayor said.
