Have your say on our Biodiversity Conservation Strategy
We recognise the importance of protecting our natural environment, supporting healthy ecosystems and adapting to climate change.
We have recently updated our Biodiversity Conservation Strategy, which governs our approach to biodiversity conservation across the Woollahra area.
The updated draft Biodiversity Conservation Strategy covers our vision for biodiversity and achievable objectives, the identification of key habitat areas in our local area and an action plan to guide the protection and restoration of biodiversity in Woollahra.
We are seeking community feedback on the draft before it is finalised and presented to Council for adoption in mid-2025. Have your say by 6 June at Your Say Woollahra.
Volunteer Week 19-25 May
We have around 160 volunteers who help support our Gallery, Libraries, Bushcare and HarbourCare programs. During each National Volunteer Week, we have the chance to host a thank you morning tea for them in appreciation for their time, skills and enthusiasm. We are so grateful to all our volunteers and to the many residents in our area who volunteer for other organisations and causes.
We are lucky to have so many kind-hearted people giving back to our community in many different ways, like Idy, who has been one of our incredible Slide Monitor volunteers for the past six years. We have a much-loved kids’ slippery slide inside Woollahra Library at Double Bay, which is supervised during its opening hours to ensure everyone’s safety.
“I moved to Australia 10 years ago from Hong Kong and felt that it was important to contribute to this community. I work in after school care as well, so I love meeting children and learning from them. They help me understand my new community in an easy, simple way,” Idy says.
Find out more about how you can volunteer at Council by visiting National Volunteer Week.
