This 4-week workshop takes young people through the creative writing process with valuable insights from published author Samera Kamaleddine, inspiring them to write authentically and from the heart. Topics covered include finding voice and ideas, creating authentic characters, structure and conflict and writing with the senses. Each week, sessions build on the last, so we ask participants to commit to all 4 weeks of the course. This booking automatically enrols you for all four sessions.

About the facilitator:
Samera Kamaleddine is an author and former journalist, who used to write for magazines about everything from friendship dramas and school bullies to body confidence. As an author who writes from personal experience, she is passionate about sharing diverse stories of growing up in Australia and believes every young person should feel ‘seen’ in books. Her debut YA novel, Half My Luck, was published in 2021 after it won the HarperCollins Matilda Prize. Her debut middle-grade novel, The Sideways Orbit of Evie Hart, was shortlisted for the 2024 CBCA Book of the Year – Younger Readers.
