Published on 01 August 2025
Woollahra Council has awarded community organisations, schools, businesses and individuals from across the Woollahra Local Government Area a total of $310,000 in funding through its annual Grants Program.
The Program supports projects that work towards a connected, liveable, creative and sustainable community, with funding available in the categories of Community and Cultural, Environmental, Placemaking, Business Sector Support and Outgoing Sponsorship.
Driving meaningful change
The 71 successful recipients will undertake projects that will drive meaningful change in the Woollahra community, Woollahra Mayor Sarah Swan said.
"Council’s investment in a wide range of initiatives will empower community members, provide support for people with a disability, children and families, young people and seniors, address local environmental and business needs and enhance the area's quality of life through creativity and deeper connections," Mayor Swan said.
"Congratulations to all recipients for their dedication to improving our community. I am looking forward to the positive impact these projects will have over the coming year."
Environmental Grants
Environmental grants support local schools and not-for-profit community organisations to implement sustainability projects. Grants awarded include funding for native beehives to enhance biodiversity and promote sustainable practices in a local community garden, and the installation of native and herb gardens at local schools, to provide educational opportunities and foster environmental stewardship in students.
Community and Cultural Grants
Community and Cultural grants provide support for projects that contribute to a vibrant and creative community. Among the funding recipients are an exhibition featuring the work of Aboriginal artists, disability awareness workshops and a German Cultural Day to be held in Woollahra in October.
Business Sector Support Grants
Business Sector Support grants assist organisations with initiatives that support businesses and local economic development, such as a 2026 Fashion Day Out aimed at promoting its location as a fashion destination. The Outgoing Sponsorship Program focuses on support for longstanding local initiatives, this year including youth film and community street festivals.
Placemaking grants
Placemaking grants provide funding for events and activities that activate and enhance public spaces, in this round of funding including local history and heritage walking tours, music, arts and business networking events.
Small grants of up to $3,000 were available to individuals, community groups, community organisations (not-for-profits and charities) and businesses; and large grants of between $3,001 and $7,500 available to businesses, community organisations and community groups. Business Sector Support grants were available for up to $10,000 per organisation, and annual funding of $50,000 available, for up to $20,000 per submission as part of the Outgoing Sponsorship Program.
