Children have the right to feel safe
Published on 28 August 2025
The theme for this year’s National Child Protection Week (7-13 September 2025) is “Every conversation matters” and child protection is an important conversation for us to have as a community.
Keeping kids safe is a shared responsibility and we all have a role to play. If you see something, say something.
At Council, we have zero tolerance of child abuse and a steadfast commitment to being a child safe organisation. Read more about Woollahra Council’s commitment to being a Child Safe organisation.
How to report concerns
You might have seen we’ve installed Child Safe posters in our parks, libraries and venues, reminding everyone how to report concerns about a child who is at risk of harm from abuse or neglect:
- If a child is in immediate danger call the Police on 000 (triple zero).
- If the threat is not immediate call the Child Protection Helpline on 132 111.
Free webinar for parents, carers and relatives
If you’d like to learn more about how to talk to kids about body safety, you’re invited to a webinar we're hosting in conjunction with Body Safety Australia. This two-hour workshop empowers families with safety tools that can be used within the home, school or community to keep children safe. Free event, bookings essential via the link below:
