2023 winner, Alice from Vaucluse Public School 

Local primary school students (K-6) are invited to enter our Kids Truck Art Competition and create an artwork around the theme ‘Food scraps go in your green-lid bin’. Four winning artworks will be printed on our waste trucks for everyone to see!

Did you know that ALL kinds of food waste can go into the green lid bin, along with garden organics? Kids are encouraged to be creative and explore the types of food waste that can go into the green-lid bin, including items that people might not be aware of:

  • Meat, chicken and fish leftovers/bones
  • Half eaten sandwiches and mouldy bread
  • Leftover take away like pizza crusts, burgers and pasta/rice
  • Banana peels, watermelon skins and any kind of fruit/vegetable scraps
  • Junk food, left over chips, cheese and crackers
  • Anything left over from your plate after meals
  • ALL FOOD SCRAPS!! 

Key information:               

  • This competition is open to students from K-6 from the Woollahra local area.
  • The artwork should be A4, landscape in orientation and drawn using strong coloured pencils, textas, or paint. You can also use digital media (e.g. iPad drawing apps), but please use original photos and artwork (no stock images or AI generated submissions). 
  • Make your artwork bright, colourful and bold as these print the best on our trucks.
  • Entries close Friday 15 August.

Prizes:

  • 4 winners will be selected and artwork printed on waste trucks. Winners also receive a $50 book voucher.
  • 4 runners up will receive a $50 book voucher.
  • The school with the most entries will receive $500 to spend on environmental projects at school.
