Children's Program

We offer a range of specially designed programs for children of all ages at each of our libraries during school term. We also offer a dedicated School Holiday Program.

These sessions are offered on a first come first served basis. Please arrive early to secure a space. If a session is at capacity, we ask that members arrive earlier at the next available session. Please ensure that you maintain physical distancing when attending each session.

Book Babies (0-18 months)

Explore a featured book one-to-one with your baby (aged 0 to 18 months). This free program focuses on early literacy and will include stories, rhymes, songs and finger-play.

Spaces are limited. If a session is at capacity, we ask that members arrive earlier at the next available session.

Rhyme Time for babies and toddlers (0-2 years)

Enjoy rhymes, singing, board books and musical instruments with your child (aged 0-2 years). This free, fun and interactive program encourages parents and carers to become fully involved with their babies and toddlers by associating books and songs with parental time and attention.

Rhyme Time Spaces are limited to assist in managing attendance and to keep within physical distancing requirements. If a session is at capacity, we ask that members arrive earlier at the next available session.

  • Watsons Bay Library - Thursday 10:00am and 10:30am

Story Time for preschoolers (3-5 years)

Explore a theme which incorporates songs, rhymes and a craft activity with your child (aged 3-5 years). This free program helps to promote reading readiness and is a great opportunity for preschool children and their parent or carers to share the joy of literature, language rhythm and rhyme.

  • Paddington Library - Sunday 10:30am & Monday 10:30am
  • Watsons Bay Library - Tuesday 10:30am
  • Woollahra Library at Double Bay - Wednesday 10:30am & second Saturday of the month 10:30am

Mini Makers Club (for school aged children)

Mini Makers Club is a fun filled program for school-age children held once a month at each Woollahra Libraries service point.

Bookings are essential to assist in managing attendance and to keep in line with the 2 square metre guideline.

Please note: Numbers are limited and bookings in advance are essential. The booking page will be made available one week in advance, and you must be a current Woollahra Libraries member. (Not a member? Join online for free).

This program is run monthly during school term only.

  • Watsons Bay Library - first Wednesday of alternate months 4.00pm**
  • Paddington Library - third Tuesday alternate months 4.00pm**
  • Woollahra Library at Double Bay - third Thursday of the month 4.00pm

**Mini Makers sessions at Watsons Bay Library and Paddington Library alternate monthly, please check the council events page for set dates and bookings.

Each session is designed to provide a fun way to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, and runs for just under an hour. Bookings are required to attend and spaces are limited.
