National Science Week (Saturday 15 August to Sunday 23 August 2026) is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology.

The week features more than 1,000 events around Australia, delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres.

Woollahra Libraries are jumping on board and will be hosting a number of fun science themed events for all ages. Join us to experiment, discover and see the world in a whole new way.

Science in the Swamp

Science in the Swamp returns this National Science Week on Sunday 16 August, bringing a free, family‑friendly day of hands‑on science to Centennial Park.

Explore over 40 stalls, shows and activities, from interactive experiments and robotics to wildlife encounters and live science demonstrations. Meet scientists and discover how science connects to the natural world, with experiences designed for all ages.

Don’t miss the life-sized roaming dinosaur and your chance to meet real-life scientists at this special event.
