Have your say on NSW Government rezoning of Woollahra and Edgecliff by 7 October
The NSW Government has shared its rezoning proposal for 9,400 new homes and around 20,000 additional residents in Woollahra and Edgecliff, in towers up to 34 storeys in height.
The scale of what is proposed in a precinct that is already one of the most densely populated and traffic-congested locations in Sydney will fundamentally change our community, and does not include the infrastructure like schools, road upgrades, or essential services needed to support basic liveability.
Woollahra Council’s alternative plan for 3,600 new homes for the precinct, released in August, offers a realistic, sustainable housing solution. If the NSW Government’s planning changes are approved, we may never be able to undo them, so it is vital that everyone who cares about the future of Woollahra and Edgecliff take action and have their say through the NSW Government’s Planning Portal before the public exhibition on the rezoning proposal closes on 7 October.
The NSW Government is hosting community drop-in sessions at multiple locations in Edgecliff, Woollahra and Double Bay, at which it will be possible to speak with planners about what the government is proposing, with a range of 30-minute time slots available on 24, 28 and 29 September.

Thank you to Woollahra Councillors Mary-Lou Jarvis, Hugh Woodgate, Julian Parmegiani, Merrill Witt, Harriet Price, Lucinda Regan and Torsten for their assistance with letterbox dropping and doorknocking to inform the community of the NSW Government’s plans and the limited opportunity for everyone to have their say.
Our councillors will also be leading information sessions to help the community understand how to lodge a submission, at Woollahra Council Chambers in Double Bay on 24 September and Paddington Library on 29 September. Details are available on our website.
