Join the Celebration: Woollahra Library at Double Bay Turns 10
Published on 26 May 2026
In May this year, Woollahra Library at Double Bay celebrates a significant milestone - 10 years at the heart of the community.
Since opening, our library has become far more than a place to borrow books. It is a vibrant, welcoming space where people of all ages come to read, learn, connect and be inspired.
Join the 10th birthday celebrations
To mark this occasion, you are invited to a special 10th Birthday Celebration in Kiaora Place on Saturday 30 May.
There will be live entertainment, roving performers, family activities, science demonstrations, craft, a Pound Paws adoption fair and more festivities across the day.
Adults and children are also invited to take part in a joyful Bird Parade through the library at 2pm. Meet us in Kiaora Place outside the library and, if you can, come dressed in your best bird costume and bring along a musical instrument to join the parade. Just look for the cockatoos to find the meeting point.

As part of the celebrations, Woollahra Libraries is inviting members to share the joy of reading through the "Gift of the Library" giveaway.
How it works:
- Pick up a Gift of the Library referral card at the library.
- Write your name and library card number on the back before giving it to a friend or family member.
- When they join the library, they hand the card to staff at the service desk.
- Both the referrer and the new member will receive one entry into a special prize draw.
Prize draw
At the end of May, two winners will be drawn: one referring member and one new member. Each will receive a Kobo Clara Colour eReader.
It’s a simple way to introduce someone to everything the library offers.
A place for everyone
From young families attending rhyme time, to students preparing for exams, to readers discovering their next favourite book, the library continues to play an important role in everyday life.
As Woollahra Library at Double Bay celebrates its first decade, we remain focused on the future - continuing to provide inclusive, accessible and inspiring spaces for the whole community. A very Happy Birthday to a very special library!
