Did you know you can borrow much more than books from Woollahra Libraries? We’re sharing ten surprising things you can borrow from your local library.
1. Podcast Kits
Have a story to tell? Borrow our RØDECaster Pro Podcast Kit and start recording. Perfect for budding broadcasters, community groups or anyone ready to press record.
2. Colourblind Glasses
Experience colour in a new way with our EnChroma colourblind glasses, designed to enhance colour vision for people with red-green colour blindness. Glasses are available for a three-week loan period, with renewals and reservations permitted.
3. Video Games
From PS4 and PS5 to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, members can borrow a wide range of popular video games for both juniors and adults for a three-week loan. Game on!
4. Kids' STEM Kits
Designed for curious minds, our children’s STEM kits bring science, technology, engineering and maths to life through hands-on learning and creative play. Stem Kits are available to borrow at all of our library locations.
5. Memory Boxes
Created to support people living with dementia and their carers, our Memory Boxes feature carefully curated objects and prompts to spark conversation and connection. We have created five themed Memory Boxes, available to borrow for 4 weeks.
6. Thermal Imaging Cameras
Wondering where the heat is escaping in your home? Borrow a thermal imaging camera and identify air leaks, insulation gaps, damp issues and energy-saving opportunities. Thermal Imaging Cameras are available to borrow for 7 days.
7. Reader Pens
Portable and easy to use, reader pens scan text and read it aloud - a helpful tool for people with low vision, dyslexia or anyone learning English. The voiceover is available in English, Spanish or French. Reader Pens are available to borrow for 3 weeks.
8. Garden Seeds
Grow something new with our Seed Library at Watsons Bay library. Borrow seeds, plant them at home and help cultivate a more sustainable community.
9. Magazines
Stay up to date with a wide selection of current and back-issue magazines covering everything from design and travel to food and current affairs.
10. DVDs
From classic films to the latest TV series, our DVD collection is ready for your next movie night.
Bonus: Book Club Kits
Technically books, yes - but each of our more than 70 Book Club Kits includes 5 to 10 copies of the same title, making it easy to gather friends, neighbours or colleagues and start your own reading group. It’s just one more way we bring people together beyond the shelves.
