Hire a park

Many of our parks are available for hire for weddings, social, corporate, and public/community events.

Small social events

Woollahra residents and the general public are welcome to use our Parks and Reserves for small social functions such as picnics, get togethers and birthdays for up to 20 people without a charge or booking with the exception of the following activities

  • Sit down event with tables and seating such as low lying pallets or tables with seats or cushions
  • Amusement device or large temporary structures
  • Custom set up such as a proposal or special celebration

Sit down events are NOT permitted in McKell Park


Ceremonies, corporate functions, organised sports and large social functions

Bookings are essential for large social functions of more than 20 people, and are also required for any weddings, ceremonies, bridal photography, corporate functions, corporate promotional activities or organised sports, regardless of the size of the group.

A fee applies to cover park maintenance, and a cancellation fee is charged for all bookings. All bookings require the applicable form to be completed and submitted to Council with the relevant fee, and special conditions may apply for some events. If booking an area and erecting a marquee and/or amusement device, additional fees, bond and conditions apply.


Public and community events

If you wish to hold a public or community event in a Council park or reserve, you must complete the relevant forms and provide, in writing, any additional information. Please ensure to check availability of the park before submitting your application.

Amusement Devices and Temporary Structures

Amusement devices require an Activity Approval under Section 68 Local Government Act 1993. Amusement devices include jumping castles, rides, inflatable items such as sumo wrestling and bubble soccer as well as kindy farms, petting zoos etc.

Temporary structures include marquees, bell tents, canopies etc.

If an amusement device or temporary structure is to be installed as part of an event, an Activity Approval will be required for the structure. The Activity Approval must be in the applicant’s possession and on-site at all times.
