Woollahra Municipal Council has embedded multiple plans, projects, programs and services that support the growth and development of our local businesses. As always, we encourage you to shop local and support your neighbourhood businesses.

Placemaking Grants

Our Placemaking Grants program is about supporting business to enhance the experience of visitors to our shopping and commercial areas and contribute to them being vital public destinations. Placemaking Grants provide funding of up to $7,500.

These include but are not limited to projects and activities which complement our own services and identified priorities in the areas of community focused economic development. Examples may include:

  • Public art projects
  • Promotion of shopping and commercial areas
  • Rejuvenation of shop fronts
  • Footpath displays, trading and dining
  • Activating vacant shop fronts
  • Footpath theatre - musical/theatrical

Australian Government

You or your business could be eligible for Australian Government COVID-19 financial assistance. Current business support initiatives are detailed below:

Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment
Financial support for individuals who can’t earn an income due to self-isolation, quarantine, or where they are caring for someone with COVID-19.

Self-Employment Assistance
This program provides support to people interested in starting their own business or who need help to refocus an existing small business including various self-employment services such as advice, coaching and training. To participate in this program, contact your local Self-Employment Assistance provider to discuss your eligibility and options.

The COVID-19 Aged Care Support Program Extension
This program provides aged care providers with reimbursement of eligible expenses due to COVID-19.
