Rose Bay Cycleway open

I am pleased to announce that the new 2.4km Rose Bay Cycleway is now open, improving safety along New South Head Road and ensuring the iconic Rose Bay Promenade is accessible for all to enjoy.

Located between William Street, Double Bay and Norwich Road, Rose Bay, it incorporates separate spaces for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles along the Promenade, through a design that balances the needs of all road users.

Many more people began cycling during the pandemic and we wanted to ensure this uptake continues by enabling more active transport on their commute, safely linking up to other forms of transport, such as ferries to the CBD as part of their journey.

We are grateful for the funding assistance from the NSW Government which helped us to deliver this important piece of infrastructure. A special thanks also to BIKEast, whose members joined me last week to test out the new route.

Vale Queen Elizabeth II

At the time of writing, we had all woken to the sad news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

The world is a far better place when we serve the needs of others, and I have been reflecting on this as the Woollahra community along with the rest of the world commemorates the Queen’s life and incredible contribution to public service over more than 70 years. May she rest in peace.
