New public plaza for Double Bay

Following the success of the Kiaora Lands redevelopment and the pedestrianisation of Kiaora Lane, Council has been exploring further ways to increase the vibrancy and vitality of the Double Bay Commercial Centre.

I am delighted to announce an exciting new project that will achieve these aims by completely transforming Knox Street in Double Bay. The project will involve the creation of a new pedestrian-only public area with new lighting, plantings, public art and seating, providing a space for the community to meet and visit and encourage people to get out and about and experience local shops, cafes and restaurants.

We are grateful for $4.75 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program, which will ensure that we are able to deliver a very high quality public space. Following a detailed design process and public consultation, the project will be delivered in 2022.

Community Satisfaction Survey

To help measure our performance, Council has commissioned a Community Satisfaction Survey, with the results to be informed by performance measures and targets in our Community Strategic Plan, Woollahra 2030.

The survey is being conducted by phone by Micromex Research & Consulting, with participants randomly selected from across the Woollahra local government area. I encourage you to take part and provide feedback if contacted.

The results of the survey will be included in our 2020/21 Annual Report. We look forward to sharing the results with you.

Police have reported a recent increase in car thefts in our local area. To protect yourself from car theft, please remember to always lock your car and store your keys safely and out of sight - even at home.
