A win for sustainability

I am delighted to announce that Woollahra Council has been recognised for innovation in sustainability at the 2020 Local Government Excellence Awards, winning the Innovative Leadership and Management category for our 3-Council Public Electric Vehicle Charging Network project.  We partnered with Waverley and Randwick Councils to deliver six charging stations across the east, including one in Double Bay.

I am so proud of the fantastic work our Sustainability team is doing to help protect the environment, including the multi-award winning Solar My School program, which helps primary and secondary schools choose and install the right solar power system and provides materials to teach students about the benefits of solar.

Free local business webinars

We know many of our local business have been impacted by COVID and Council has partnered with Netstripes on a series of free webinars designed to increase digital knowledge and skills and pivot businesses for growth. The webinars will be held on multiple dates in July and August to ensure that as many local business owners and their teams have access to ideas to help them strengthen, reinvent and grow during this challenging period. Visit our website for more information or to register.

Make your business COVID Safe

To help keep our community safe and protect staff, customers and visitors, I encourage local businesses to complete a COVID-19 Safety Plan and register as a COVID Safe business.

Some businesses must complete a plan under NSW Government public safety orders, but it’s also possible to voluntarily complete one. Different plans apply to different industries, and cover hygiene and safety, physical distancing, staff wellbeing and recording contact details of staff and customers.
