Message from the Mayor 22 July 2020
Published 22 July 2020
Woollahra Council’s new General Manager Craig Swift-McNair commenced in his role this week. Craig joins us from Port Macquarie Council, where he had been GM since 2014. I am very much looking forward to working with him on delivering a range of exciting upcoming projects and in helping to guide Woollahra as we continue to navigate through COVID recovery, and I’m sure he will receive a warm welcome from the community in the days and weeks ahead.
Key project and service investments for the coming year
Council’s recently-endorsed 2020/21 Delivery Program and Operational Plan outlines a range of initiatives which will benefit our community, invest in local infrastructure, stimulate our local economy and protect our local environment.
Budget investments include $4.1 million on road and footpath upgrades, $2.7 million on park and open space projects, $320,000 on the new Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf and $150,000 on major sportsfield renovations.
Other expenditure reflects changes we have implemented in response to COVID-19, including $2.52 million to support local small businesses and our commercial centres during the pandemic.
As always, we are firmly focused on providing financial stability for the Woollahra community and maintaining our strong commitment to service, and we have appreciated the community feedback which continues to inform our goals and decisions. You can read the full Plan here.
Have your say on our parks and reserves
New Plans of Management are currently being prepared for over 20 parks and reserves located in Watsons Bay, Vaucluse, Rose Bay, Bellevue Hill, Double Bay, Darling Point and Paddington, which are owned by the NSW Government and managed by Council, and we would like your feedback. Please take our survey before 31 July and help guide how this land will be used into the future.
