The NSW Department of Planning and Environment are inviting local communities to have their say on the first year of the Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel. The 15 minute survey is open until 12 February.

On 1 March 2018, the NSW Government introduced requirements for all councils in Greater Sydney and Wollongong (34 councils) to establish an Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel (IHAP), known as a Local Planning Panel under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment engaged the University of Technology Sydney to monitor and evaluate the implementation of IHAPs over the first year of their operation.

As part of this evaluation, IPPG is conducting a community survey. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The survey will be open until 11:30pm on Tuesday 12 February 2019.

Your opinions and feedback will assist the Department to identify areas for improvement in the new IHAP system.

Your participation in this survey is voluntary. Your responses are anonymous and will be kept confidential. Survey results will be included in the final evaluation report which will be made publicly available.

If you have questions or concerns about the survey, please feel free to contact Yvette Selim, Project Manager (Yvette.Selim@uts.edu.au or 02 9514 8223). If you would like to talk to someone who is not connected with the research, you may contact the Research Ethics Officer (Research.ethics@uts.edu.au or 02 9514 9772).
