There are now even more opportunities for sports and recreation in our local area thanks to a court upgrade at Christison Park in Vaucluse.
We recently upgraded the existing single basketball court to create two new multi-purpose courts, catering to both netball and basketball. They feature low-level sports lighting, enabling play at night.
The project was funded by Woollahra Council with a Federal Government contribution.
Mayor of Woollahra Susan Wynne said the upgrade addresses longstanding feedback from the community about the need for netball courts in the local area.
"I know when my girls played netball, there were no local courts for them to practice on," the Mayor said.
"There were basketball courts, but any netballer knows they're not quite the same.
"Our extensive community consultation showed people have been wanting to see more facilities like these particularly since Covid-19 and I'm thrilled to see this come to life," she said.
The courts are available for use by the general public and bookings are available Monday-Sunday between 7am – 9pm. Bookings can be made via our Recreation team on 9391 7000.
