Woollahra Garden Awards winners announced

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2020 Woollahra Garden Awards.

High-quality design and inventiveness and many hours of love and dedication were evident in all category winners, including Large, Small, Verge and Sustainable gardens. I enjoyed judging the entries alongside Daniel Baffsky, Founder and Director of award-winning landscape architecture firm 360 Degrees, and Woollahra Councillor Peter Cavanagh.

At Council we love celebrating our natural environment and the Awards give us a wonderful opportunity to take a peek at the delightful spaces community members and groups have created that help to enhance our area.

This year we had a significant increase in entries, as many in our community recognised the benefits our green spaces can bring to physical and mental wellbeing during what has been a challenging year.

It was been wonderful to see how much Paddington Community Garden, the winner of the Best Garden (Overall) and Sustainability Awards, has thrived, and lovely to hear how so many local residents and families have taken to visiting the Garden for their wellbeing and the opportunity to connect with others this year.

Garage Sale Trail

With more than 16,000 garage sales happening in our area and around Australia this weekend on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab a bargain and save usable items from landfill – over 3.2 million kilograms were diverted last year through this great initiative, which is proudly supported by Woollahra Council.

Support your neighbour and shop super local, plan a trail of the sales you want to visit and find out what’s on near you or register your own sale at Garage Sale Trail

Have your say on disability inclusion

The NSW Government is seeking community feedback on the NSW Disability Inclusion Plan to ensure it continues to support the inclusion of people with disability in NSW and their access to government services and community facilities.

To have your say and to contribute to the development of the updated Plan, visit NSW Government - Have Your Say until 4 December.
