Congratulations to the winners of the 2022 Woollahra Garden Awards.

A strong commitment to garden design and landscaping, originality, plant selection, maintenance, habitat creation and overall sustainability including recycling and reduced water use was recognised at the Awards.

Woollahra Deputy Mayor Isabelle Shapiro praised the quality and diversity of the winning entries at a special presentation ceremony held at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf on 14 November:

  • Best Overall Garden
    Winner – Jeannette Lloyd Jones, Edgecliff Road, Woollahra
  • Best Sustainable Home or Verge Garden
    Winner - Jeannette Lloyd Jones, Edgecliff Road, Woollahra
    Highly Commended – Anastasia Coroneo, Jeremy Ballach and Isis Bellach, Old
    South Head Road, Vaucluse
  • Best Small Garden (including balconies, courtyards and townhouses)
    Winner – Diana Fisher, Holdsworth Street, Woollahra
    Highly Commended – Bill James, Paddington Street, Paddington
  • Best Large Garden
    Winner – Timothy Allerton, Hopetoun Avenue, Vaucluse
    Highly Commended – Maggie Crichton, Parsley Road, Vaucluse
  • Best Sustainable Community Garden
    Winner – Uniting Retirement Living Lough Neagh Woollahra

Entries were judged on garden design and landscaping, originality, plant selection, maintenance and overall sustainability.

Woollahra Garden Awards judge Lorraine Emerson, President, Garden Clubs of Australia, said gardens are “essentially a place of harmony,” and the Best Overall Garden, “accentuates this with pockets of Erigeron spilling over the classic pathways and Bougainvillea Britannica dividing the walls with Brugmansia peeping through.

“The owners of this beautiful property have demonstrated their conscientious efforts with the support of eco-friendly products, composting and without the use of harsh chemicals. They are to be admired.”

The Best Overall Winner received a $500 nursery voucher, and all category winners received a $100 nursery voucher. Highly Commended entries in each category received a $50 nursery voucher.
