More than 100 local businesses are joining forces for an evening of fun, food and festivities, marking Paddington’s 2021 postcode and the current calendar year.

A 2021 Night Out will be held across the historic Sydney suburb from 4pm-8pm on March 25 - with retailers, restaurants, pubs and galleries offering an afternoon and evening of unique activations, entertainment, offers and great deals.

Woollahra Mayor Susan Wynne said the event will showcase local community spirit and the excellence of Paddington hospitality and retail.

“This is a fantastic event that will bring people and businesses together and create a great community experience,” Mayor Wynne said.

“It’s a perfect example of what is so special and unique about Paddington, which has such a wonderful village feel, and a great opportunity to get out, shop local and have a fun evening.”

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the City of Sydney was delighted to partner with Woollahra Council and the Paddington Business Partnership.

“Paddington is one of Sydney’s key hospitality and boutique retail precincts, enjoying a well-earned reputation as a sophisticated and creative community. But like so many areas it’s been hit hard by COVID.

“As we have been for the past 12 months, the City will continue to fund programs that allow vibrant communities and local businesses to recover and thrive. Exciting initiatives such as A 2021 Night Out, which will attract both locals and visitors into the area’s laneways and streets, are vital elements in this recovery.”

Visit Paddington president Michael Fegent said the evening promised to be a brilliant showcase of Paddington, one of Australia’s most historic, beautiful and interesting suburbs.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to really show what we have here,” Mr Fegent said. “We have some of the most incredible restaurants, shops, galleries and spaces in Sydney, if not the whole of Australia, why not show off what we have?

“We want people to come to Paddington, to experience the best of the suburb, spend some time here and keep coming back. It’s an exciting year for us and we encourage everyone to come along, experience what we have and hopefully discover something new as they wander these amazing streets.”
