Who is your favourite author?

I have so many. Today it is Roald Dahl. His children's stories are classics, but it is his adult books that have stayed with me.

Where was your most memorable holiday?

Right now I am working on Gypsy, my fifth book which features five trips from last year. Transylvania, Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands, Scotland, Indochine and Turkey are at the forefront of my mind right now as I shoot and write for an October release!

Do you have any hot writing tips for beginners?

You have to have a great love and belief in what you are doing. From the get-go, have a system and make it a happy place! Books are not easy to bring together, and are very personal - so it is always important to get them just right. Stay true to your vision and strap yourself in for a tough but rewarding ride.

If you could replay a moment of your life over and over again, what would it be?

Hanging with my Mum.

What was the best thing about writing Bowerbird: creating beautiful interiors with the things you collect?

Going through all of my collections and in a way, creating an archive of them that I could keep myself, and share with others. It is like my own little library.
