Join author Ann Cleeves in conversation with Kate Evans as they discuss Ann’s book The Rising Tide, the latest instalment in the Vera Stanhope series. Fifty years ago, a group of teenagers spent a weekend on Holy Island, forging a bond that has lasted a lifetime. When one of them is hanged, Vera is called in. With the tide rising, secrets long-hidden are finding their way to the surface, and Vera and the team may find themselves in more danger than they could have believed possible…

Ann Cleeves is the author of more than thirty-five critically acclaimed novels. She is the creator of popular detectives Vera Stanhope, Jimmy Perez and Matthew Venn, who can be found on television in Vera, Shetland and The Long Call respectively. The TV series and the books they are based on have become international sensations, capturing the minds of millions worldwide.

Kate Evans has a PhD in History and has worked in publishing, universities, TV and radio. She has worked as both a producer and presenter at the ABC’s Radio National and in recent years has specialised in interviews with authors on Books and Arts and Books Plus. Kate currently co-presents The Bookshelf with Cassie McCullaugh, a weekly radio show where they review the latest in fiction for dedicated readers and for those who wish they read more.
