Weeds in the garden, bushland and aquatic areas cause problems for home owners, gardeners, the community and Council.
Identifying weeds from regular horticultural plants can often be a challenge, as many weeds were first introduced as plants for the home garden.
Without proper treatment and management weeds can threaten our flora and fauna.
Some plants have been declared as noxious weeds under the Noxious Weeds Act 1993. There are five classes of noxious weeds that each require a certain treatment and management strategy.
There are 84 plant species that have been declared noxious in our local government area, but only eight of these are present in our local community and are either Class 3 weeds or Class 4 weeds.
