Woollahra Council Garden Winners

Published: 29 Sep 2009

The Woollahra Municipality is known for its stunning parks and gardens and in 1996, Woollahra Council initiated the first Woollahra Garden Competition to recognise community members and groups who were contributing to beautifying the local environment.

After a week of stunning garden displays and expert talks, the winners of the 2009 Woollahra Garden Awards were announced at a presentation ceremony hosted by Deputy Mayor Peter Cavanagh and former Mayor, Christopher Dawson.

Sponsored by the Wentworth Courier and Honeysuckle Gardens, the 14 Garden Award finalists were judged by botanist and author Peter Valder and ABC Gardening Australia magazine editor, Jennifer Stackhouse.

The Garden Awards ceremony, held on Sunday 20 September, was opened by Clr Peter Cavanagh who introduced MC, former Mayor Chris Dawson. Along with celebrity judges, winners were called to receive their trophies and prizes in front of a full house of interested community residents.
