The Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW Excellence in the Environment Awards were held on Tuesday 29 November 2011 and Woollahra Council received three awards including:
1. Kitchen to Compost program, run by Pamela Mina (Waste Projects Officer) and Mark Ramsay (Manger of Civil Operations), won the Division B Waste Avoidance Award category;
2. Environmental Schools Sculpture Prize program, run by Melissa Sellen (Environmental Education Officer), won the Division B Communication, Education and Empowerment Award category; and
3. Chris Munro our Team Leader of Environment & Sustainability received a Special Commendation for outstanding individual contribution to sustainability as part of the Louise Petchell Memorial Award for Individual Sustainability.
This a fantastic achievement for Council's Waste and Sustainability Teams. Congratulations to everyone involved.
