Important new requirements for planning applications

Published: 01 Oct 2008

There are new requirements for the disclosure of political donations and gifts in relation to planning applications. The purpose of the requirements is to minimise any perception of undue influence.

If you are making a planning application or you are making a submission either objecting to or supporting a planning application you may also need to submit a disclosure statement.

Disclosure statements are required for political donations of $1,000 or more or for gifts made to any Councillor or gifts made to any Council employee. Planning applications include development applications and other proposals which may affect how land may be developed.

Heavy penalties can apply if you fail to submit a disclosure statement or submit a false disclosure statement.

For further information about disclosure statements you can find this on our Building and development section.
