Election - what if you did not vote

Published: 14 Sep 2008

The Electoral Commission will send out notices to all people who are on the electoral roll who they believe did not vote in the election.

It is likely to be a few weeks before the notices are issued.

The Commission will accept submissions as to why electors did not vote.

The Electoral Commission will consider the submission and then may decide to:

  1. Accept  the submission and take no further action.
  2. Issue a fine for not voting.

For further information visit the Electoral Commission website.
