Located at 1C New Beach Rd, Rushcutters Bay, the Drill Hall had been the site of navy use and administration for much of the twentieth century. In 1979, the site was transferred from the Commonwealth to the State. In 2000, the Drill Hall was the headquarters for sailing events for the Sydney Olympics and Paralympics. Post Olympics, Woollahra Council assumed responsibility for the site and is committed to ensuring that broad community use is applied for the space, based on outcomes of extensive community and stakeholder consultation.
The Drill Hall and the Studio is available for use by the community as a performance development facility. Performance development is not limited to but encompasses areas including:

Currently Critical Path utilise 'The Drill' area of the The Drill Hall for nine months of each calendar year. Critical Path is funded by the Ministry for the Arts in NSW and has made a valuable contribution to the independent dance sector in NSW. 'The Drill' is available for hire from 9am to 9pm when not utilised by the Critical Path program.
The Studio has been the host for small theatre and dance rehearsals, creative workshops, voice coaching, landscape painting classes, film production workshops and other innovation in the arts.The Studio is located upstairs in the Drill Hall are a series of three interconnected rooms that are available for hire from 9am to 9pm as one package.
