Available for Hire
The Centre offers a variety of rooms and offices for community and private use. The rooms available can accommodate between 15 to 40 people. It has a variety of rooms available for hire including a large upstairs room, lounge room, kitchen and dining room.
The EJ Ward Community Centre is available for hire from 7am to 9pm, seven days a week. The lounge room, courtyard and kitchen are shared areas from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Facilities
The large room upstairs measures 12m x 5m and seats a maximum number of 40 people. The room has a timber floor, three large tables, 40 chairs and whiteboard.
The lounge room is full of charm; and opens to the sunny garden courtyard. The lounge room contains two sofas, table and some chairs. The courtyard contains outdoor tables and chairs. Suitable for 15 people.
The dining room is light and airy, contains seven tables with seating for 30 people.
History
The EJ Ward Centre is a unique heritage building located in the heart of Paddington. The Centre is owned by Woollahra Council and managed by Sir Roden Cutler Charities Inc.
The EJ Ward Centre is a former public house opened in 1898, situated on the corner of Underwood Street and McGarvie Street Paddington. It was opened as an Activity Centre for Seniors by the Lord Mayor of Sydney City Council on 27 November 1958 and named after prominent Federal Labor MP Eddie Ward, Member for East Sydney from 1934 until his death in 1963. During his period of public service starting with election as an alderman to Sydney City Council in June 1930, he held the Ministries of Defence, National Security, Transport and External Territories.
