National Year of Reading 2012

In the National Year of Reading 2012 , Australian libraries and library associations ‘are linking together all the great things that already happen around books, reading and literacy, and giving them an extra boost, with inspirational programs and events taking place across the country’.

You can also follow these programs and events on Facebook.

Our story

Thanks to Woollahra Library members who voted to help choose the book that represents New South Wales, and becomes part of the National Year of Reading collection. Results for each Australian state and territory were announced on 14 February, official launch day for National Year of Reading.

This special date also marks Library Lovers’ Day, which was celebrated in style at a morning tea hosted by Woollahra Library at Double Bay, with guest speaker Libby Hathorn, award-winning author and a National Ambassador for the National Year of Reading. Music from Woollahra String Quartet Q’Trio, heart decorations and flowers aplenty all contributed to ‘that lovin’ feeling’ for our libraries.

Writers and Readers

The following programs are designed to connect you with authors that are writing the books you love!

• Writers and Readers
• Writers and Readers for Young People

Book clubs

Woollahra Library and Information Service has five book clubs that cater for the recreational and leisure reading of the residents. Joining the book clubs will open doors to fascinating worlds, as depicted by the imaginative and insightful authors.
