The Woollahra Library and Information Service hosts a range of events and activities either directly or with the assistance of the Woollahra Library Friends.
Library and Information Week 2009
To celebrate Library and Information Week from 25 to 31 May 2009, the Woollahra Library & Information Service are running a number of events. This includes the Biggest Morning Tea, National Simultaneous Storytime, a Tea Topic on classic books and the Annual Bookfair.
Writers and Readers
The Woollahra Library's Writers & Readers series is an exciting program of literary talks featuring local and international authors.
Bookfair
The Woollahra Library Bookfair is held once a year.
The Poets' Picnic
The Poets' Picnic, which takes place every February, is a free twilight poetry reading in the Blackburn Gardens next to the Double Bay Central Library. This year the Library celebrated the Picnic's 20th anniversary.
Children's events
Storytelling, craft and playgroups are held at the Double Bay Central Library and Paddington Library.
Youth Photographic Award
Woollahra Council invites young photographers and film makers to enter the annual Youth Photographic Award and Short Film Prize.
Ride the HSC Wave Lecture Series
Each year Woollahra Library participates in Ride the HSC Wave lecture series with the Eastern Suburbs Library Cooperative: Woollahra Library, Waverley Library, Randwick Library and Botany Bay Library.
Tea Topics
Tea Topics is a series of free information and general interest talks held in the daytime in various venues.
Local Writers' Word Festival
Every year the Woollahra Library and Information Service hosts a Local Writers' Word Festival on a Saturday in November. The Festival features seminars on writing and publishing as well as readings and interviews with selected local writers.The Library invites submissions from small-press or self-published authors of fiction, non-fiction or poetry, living in Woollahra Municipality or neighbouring municipalities to be part of this event.
