Woollahra Heritage Conservation Awards 2011

About

The Woollahra Heritage Conservation awards were established in 1985 to educate the community about heritage-listed properties, dispelling the myth that a property must be maintained as a ‘museum’ without alteration or adaptation.

Previous award winners include the adaptive reuse of Babworth House by Conybeare Morrison. The cultural significance of this grand residence was successfully conserved through clever planning, attention to detail and innovative use of technology.

This year we invited the community to nominate work to a property of heritage significance which positively contributes to the environment and adheres to recognised conservation principles. We also held on online vote for the first ever People’s Choice Award. We received 233 votes, a great result!

Winners were announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 23 November. Owners of the winning properties were presented with a commemorative brass plaque to be permanently installed on their property. Architects, designers, builders or heritage consultants also received commendation certificates in recognition of their work.
