FREE Tea Topic talk with David Malin, British-Australian astronomer and astrophotographer famous for producing the first colour images of star will talk about Galileo's Legacy.
In this talk David Malin introduces Galileo as a bit of a lad and an excellent scientist, who combined theory, observation and deduction in a very modern manner. His strength was publishing pictures with easy to understand explanations, and publishing them quickly. The next key event in astronomy was the invention of photography, followed 120 years later by the invention of the transistor, which enabled the current era of the computer, internet, orbiting telescopes and solar system satellites.
