Energy Savings Action Plan

The introduction of the Energy Administration Amendment (Water and Energy Savings) Act 2005 allocates responsibility to the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability (DEUS) to promote improvements in the water and energy efficiency of key businesses, local government and NSW government agencies. The act requires councils to prepare an Energy Savings Action Plan.

What is an Energy Savings Action Plan?

Preparation of an Energy Savings Action Plan will determine how much energy is being used at Council's top ten energy using sites, audits facilities and identifies and prioritises actions to conserve energy use. Council is currently preparing an Energy Savings Action Plan.

How will the plan be implemented?

An Energy Performance Contract has been successfully negotiated for the implementation of energy efficiency projects at seven of the Council's top energy using sites. The feasibility study undertaken as part of the contract was used to complete the investigations for the Energy Savings Action Plan. The energy saving projects are currently being implemented.
