Council runs a range of environmental and sustainability events and programs for Woollahra residents.
All local schools (from early childhood through to high schools) and community groups are encouraged to apply for Woollahra Council's Community Environmental Grants to support projects aimed at protecting or enhancing our environment.
Sustainability Street puts the idea of thinking global while acting local into practice in your own backyard, frontyard, school, local neighbourhood or local community.
Woollahra Council has received $250,000 from the NSW Environmental Trust for 'The Cooper Creek Sustainable Water Project'. The project will ensure the long term health of Cooper Creek for future generations. Residents and local schools are invited to be involved with this project through the Friends of Cooper Park network.
Council also hosts free sustainability workshops and events as part of the Sustainability Workshop Series. These workshops and events cover a wide range of topics, including composting, eco-renovations, rainwater tanks and edible gardening.
Woollahra Council has both a community garden and bushcare program. Community gardens provide a space whereby people can learn, recreate, socialise and demonstrate sustainable principles within a garden setting. Bushcare promotes community volunteers working with Council staff to help regenerate and preserve Woollahra's bushland.
