What is the Sustainable Building Advisory Service (SBAS)?

The SBAS provides $500 worth of sustainable building advice - free to residents!

As part of Woollahra Council’s continued commitment to sustainability, we now offer residents a Sustainable Building Advisory Service (SBAS), in conjunction with Archicentre. This free and voluntary service provides you with sustainable building advice from a qualified architect.

The SBAS encourages residents to incorporate sustainability features by providing practical recommendations at the early stages of design.

The first 50 eligible residents to register will receive the service.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the SBAS if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a resident of Woollahra Council and the development is within the municipality
  • You are willing to implement some of the sustainable design features within your project
  • You are expecting to go through the DA process within the next 12 months

How Does it Work?

If eligible, you will receive the services of a certified architect with experience in sustainability for approx 1 to 2 hours. The SBAS consultation will occur at your development site. The Archicentre architect will determine what sustainable initiatives or design features can be incorporated into your new dwelling, alteration or addition.

On completion of the consultation, you will be given a comprehensive report within 2 to 3 weeks.

Register Your Interest

To express your interest in this service, complete the online registration form.

Council will then assess your eligibility. If approved, you will be notified and your details will be forwarded to Archicentre who will allocate an architect to you for the consultation.

Who is Archicentre?

Archicentre logoEnergy-efficient homes require clever design, sensible specification and meticulous construction, all of which will create a comfortable building that's also cost-effective to live in. It's not always easy, however, and requires careful expert consideration of several elements including orientation, building materials, zoning, glazing, ventilation, insulation, shading, heating and cooling.

Archicentre Accredited Architects have been designing sustainable homes for years because they want their clients to have the best possible homes. They understand the importance of orientation, zoning and construction and can design your renovation to be as water-wise and as energy-efficient as possible. This is why Woollahra Council has engaged Archicentre to provide sustainability advice to our local residents.
