Out and About

Last Sunday I officially opened the Double Bay Public School Fete at Steyne Park. I would like to thank all the teachers and P&C members who helped organise this year’s fete, I know a lot of time and effort went into planning what was a very enjoyable day.

Last Friday the Volunteers for Policing metropolitan Region Development Day was held at Council Chambers. The role of Volunteers in Policing or VIPs is extremely important to police and the community. As a part of the local community VIPs are able to provide information on a variety of fronts and are recognised as an integral part of the Local Area Command. VIPs currently work in over 120 locations throughout New South Wales.

Public Access to Paddington Right of Way

Woollahra Council has negotiated an agreement with the owners of 194 Glenmore Road on the granting of an easement to allow legal public access to the passageway between Glenmore Road and Cooper Street Paddington. Public access will be available from 7.00am - 8.00pm Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 9.00pm on Thursdays and 8.00am to 8.00pm on weekends and public holidays. Outside of these times, the gates will be locked. Council will be responsible for locking and unlocking the gates, and cleaning and maintenance of the passageway. Council will install a rubberised paving surface along the passageway to reduce pedestrian noise and a sign will be installed to request that people using it respect the peace of neighbouring properties. A payment of $105,000 + GST is proposed for the acquisition of the easement for public use from the property owners. A copy of the full recommendation and report can be viewed on Council's website.

Support Local Library Programs

Woollahra Council is seeking support from local businesses for our children’s and young adult library programs including the annual Summer Reading Club, school holiday activities, Children’s Book Club and the Children’s Writers and Readers program. Our programs encourage children to read and to foster a love of books and support their educational opportunities. If you would like to support any of these exciting programs, please contact Paula Pfoeffer on 9391 7100 by the end of November.
