Community safety and crime prevention

Council has a strong commitment to community safety and crime prevention. Council addresses these issues through its Community Safety Committee and Crime Prevention Plan.

Community safety

The Community Safety Committee is a partnership between Woollahra Council, Rose Bay Police Local Area Command, residents, local community organisations and local businesses. The Committee's work is governed by Terms of Reference (PDF) that have been endorsed by Council.

Crime prevention

Council's roles in crime prevention include: designing out crime; addressing the social causes of offending; coordinating safety strategies in partnership with others; and the promotion of crime prevention awareness.

Council has a Crime Prevention Plan which it adopted in January 2007. The Plan was developed to reduce the public's fear of crime and actual crime from occurring in Woollahra.
