Arts and culture

Woollahra was and is the home of many of Australia's most acclaimed artists, authors and film makers including - poet Banjo Patterson who created 'Waltzing Matilda' and noble prize winning author Patrick White, iconic opera singer Joan Sullivan as well as internationally recognised artists Martin Sharp, Russell Drysdale, Donald Friend, Fairlie Kingston, Margaret Olley, Charles Blackman and Lloyd Rees.

Council's role

Our role is to facilitate a creative and vibrant community where people of all ages and backgrounds have access to lifelong learning opportunities and cultural activities. This is achieved through the development of policies, strategies, partnerships and events.
