This photograph was taken from Dr W. Septimus Hinder’s house in Cranbrook Road and overlooks Rose Bay and Point Piper. Cranbrook Road was extended to New South Head Road for the release of the Beresford Estate subdivision in 1903. A few large federation style houses had been built on allotments purchased at the sale, but there was still a large area of vacant land awaiting development.
